Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Date: 05/22/2024

Number: 1

Norco, CA
I found 3 eggs on my native milkweed about 3-4 weeks ago and put them in my butterfly cage. Today the first of 3 pupas emerged. A female monarch. I let her fly free and she landed next to this caterpillar living wild in the milkweed patch. I have seen numerous eggs and caterpillars in our back yard these past few weeks with an occasional adult. This is the first monarch I've seen emerge this spring.
