Number: 25

On or about May 10th (+/- 1 day) I saw a female in my garden. I had tons of Common Milkweed and followed her as she laid eggs. I considered collecting the eggs for my back porch to give them a chance to hatch and develop. I collected 21 eggs. The next day I collected 5 more. I have video of one hatching. Unfortunately, everyday I checked the numbers diminished. There were hatches but in one of the curled up leaves I discovered a spider that I suspect ate many of the young cats. So, I decided to put the remaining 12 caterpillars outside on the milkweed in my garden. I've been checking and I've found 4. I also see flies on the plants, locusts, spiders and ants.
