Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/02/2024

Number: 21

This group arrived as part of the spring murmuration which also includes grackles and starlings. The arrival takes a few days, with the peak being a thrilling mix of those birds, frequently about 60 in total. Many leave shortly thereafter, but we always have some of these species that stay and breed all summer.
Our habitat includes several varieties of deciduous and evergreen trees, 15 feeders, 6 birdbaths, bushes and lawn.
