I'm not sure but I believe this is an immature male ruby throated hummingbird based on other observations of this hummer. We had 3 hummers coming and going from nectar feeders. This one was nectaring at black-and-blue salvias and cigar flowers late in the evening. This immature ruby throat nectared at a feeder then flew up and appeared to be catching insects between new-growth needles of a spruce tree in our yard. We have had many ruby throats perch in and insect hunt around this tree over the years but I have never seen one feed between needles before.
