Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/31/2024

Number: 1

We watched the monarch butterfly for 10 to 15 minutes as it flew around the Wildlife Habitat Garden and the Native Plant Garden at the Fair Oaks Horticulture Center. It repeatedly landed on the blooms of the Showy Milkweed.
It is a patch of Showy milkweed about 6' X 2'. The milkweed has been blooming in that location for several years, but this is the first time we have ever observed a monarch butterfly in the garden.
