Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 06/03/2024

Number: 1

This was the first monarch I’ve seen this year in 2024.

We’ve had so much rain in Maryland and not enough sun.

I have a patch of milkweed some has bloomed. Some has not …the monarch found the milkweed and seemed to be just going from one to the other, it did drink nectar from one of the milk weeds that was blooming, I don’t know if it laid any eggs. I have not seen evidence of that. I could not tell if it was a male or a female.

The last couple of years have been really bad for monarchs. I have large pollinator gardens and I have noticed a massive decrease in them. I used to rear monarchs on the deck in 2020 and 2021 and then after that, there became a marked decrease in their populations in my garden sadly.
