Monarch Egg Sighted
Sightings report image

a very tattered washed out, female was dumping the last of her eggs. so incredibly interesting was the fact that I planted a showy milkweed seed a couple weeks ago and this little sprout barely 2 inches tall that was still in the tray with sunflowers and zinnias. Well this Monarch found that seedling and ended up laying three eggs on it. She then moved around the backside of my house to lay several more on a couple other plants that were wild common milkweed. The absolute connection and ability for a monarch to find milkweed is almost beyond scientific explanation. They’re just as no way it could have seen that little sprout so incredible. Obviously I will have to take these inside as there is no way that little sprout will be able to support them. And I really want to add some showy milkweed onto my property. I believe she represents pretty much the last of the first generation to come back from Texas and other parts of the south. She and her cohorts have done an exceptional job, this spring, spreading eggs, far and wide on an incredibly abundant crop of milkweed. Kudos to The first generation as they have absolutely exceeded expectations just in my yard alone I have collected over 80 eggs
