Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 06/17/2024

Number: 1

Saw a female ruby-throated hummingbird nectaring at our two stands of scarlet bee balm (Monarda didyma) in our backyard. Lacked ruby ring on neck thus female. Worked over the flowers that have opened pretty thoroughly. This was mid-afternoon. The bee balm had just started to have full open flowers maybe two days before. There were about six or seven as of yesterday. A few more today. Generally we begin seeing hummingbirds every day once the scarlet bee balm begins flowering.
