Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/17/2024

Number: 1

I was visiting my friend, who lives about a 45 minute drive north from my home in Arcade. We were outside, admiring her common milkweed patch when a monarch flew to the flowers to sip on nectar. I tried to get the gender ID, but the monarch flew away quickly. This was my first monarch adult sighting this season.

I'm looking every day to see a monarch or two arrive on my property, to sip nectar or lay eggs on my swamp milkweed or common milkweed plantings.
