Sightings report image

Number: 2

FINALLY a caterpillar! Haven't seen any eggs, but I went to cut my buffalo grass (cut once a month) and checked tiny milkweed 3 inches tall coming up in the grass and found 2 caterpillars. Same thing every year, she doesn't lay eggs on full grown common milkweed in bloom, or even medium size plants, always chooses the smallest plants. Since I pulled it out of the ground, I transferred them to potted common milkweed I have in a screen cage. Since only 2, I have to protect them. I checked quite a few plants and haven't found any more caterpillars or eggs.
