Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Date: 06/20/2024

Number: 1

A large male eclosed early on the morning of 06/20 and was released early evening. It was a strong flier and flew to near the top of a very large oak tree.

This is the first Monarch I have captive reared this year. The caterpillar was given to me as a 4th instar by a friend. She found the caterpillar at her farm (lat. 39.4032665987 long. -90.018319602).

I finished raising it outside on a screened in porch in a mesh cage.
