Sightings report image

Busy day in the Common Milkweed patch that I have been monitoring since July 1. Arrived to find a male patrolling. However, just after noon, I witnessed a female arrive and start ovipositing. After ovipositing on a few plants, she stopped to nectar. However, she was chased away by the patrolling male. After she left, I tried to locate an egg but was unsuccessful.
I was able to take a photograph of the patrolling male and to determine that he was not the same male previously sighted as he does not have the same marks on his wing. I witnessed multiple times through the day where he scared away another male. Could’ve been the same male or different males but because I know the rules of citizen science are to only report what you see at one time, I am only reporting two males. I can only include one photo so I’ve chosen the female in her act of ovipositing.
Time of observation 09:15 until approximately 14:00. Mostly overcast day with partly sunny intervals.
At 14:00 the Closest Environment Canada weather reporting station at the Burlington Lift Bridge recorded the high temperature for the day at 28.8°C with a humidex of 34°C and relative humidity of 50%, winds SSW at 7 km/h, dew point 17°C, barometric pressure 101.3 kPa
