Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 07/20/2024

Number: 6

From the first sighting 'clutch' of 45+ eggs, there are about 6 5th-instar monarch caterpillars. The Asclepias tuberosa in the gravel garden seems to have been the best host during the last 3 weeks of warm, very humid foggy weather. The remaining caterpillar is on an Asclepias incarnata growing out of the gravel driveway.
