Monarch Egg Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/24/2024

Number: 2

See previous report for Monarch Adult Sighted. After an extensive walk through the park trying in vain to locate the female once she flew away, I returned to the Common Milkweed patch previously mentioned. As luck would have it, I was able to locate one of the eggs that the female oviposited. I don’t recall seeing her put two eggs here. I was able to locate two eggs on this tiny plant. When the eggs hatch and the larva emerge, they will have to do a little walk about to find some more sustenance as they grow. Once again, Darlene is correct; the females choose the tiny plants in a sea of larger ones. Weather conditions noted in previous report. See subsequent report under Larva Sighted to see what else I found while looking for the eggs.
