Meadow, cloudy skies, 77 degrees F. Viewed at a distance, butterfly was "flitting" from plant to plant. No milkweed visible in this fairly-recently mowed meadow-just clover, chickory, QA'Lace, tinyflowering plants I could not identify. Butterfly rested breifly on QA's Lace and then flitted across the meadow and dispappeared. Seemed to "touch down" for only a split second onto plants, repeating the process across the meadow. Female looking for milkweed, perhaps?
