Our Rubies are definitely busy! Wherever I look when I'm outside, there are 3-4 chasing each other. They will zoom right by me and many will come right up to me and say "hi" in hummingbird language. Adult males are "standing" guard on their preferred perches near their preferred garden/feeder. They get very frustrated with the juveniles and constantly fuss them out. The juveniles are busy attempting to establish dominance among one another. Our adult females are busy nesting again and just come down for quick sips from the feeders. Thank goodness, we finally have received a decent amount of rain over the last week. We've picked up about 5 inches and the heat has abated quite a bit.. All living creatures are much happier! This cute little juvie in the photo is standing guard on a flower stake. They all have their own favorite perches and will definitely fight for them. We had a lovely rainy day for most of the day today. All our birdies, including the hummers, were very happy! We were too!
