Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/26/2024

Number: 1

This Monarch was actually looking for flowers. It tried to land on a Bull Thistle twice. Unfortunately, the Milkweed that was at a nearby center strip on the Bronx River Parkway was mowed down. This was a very devastating sight as I noticed many bees visiting in the months of June. Is there a way to share the education about the plants with the Parks and Recreation? Mowing is needed in certain areas for sure but not a center strip on a parkway perhaps. Thanks.
