Sightings report image

Date: 07/25/2024

Number: 2

Over past two weeks I’ve seen at least two males and 2 females, but I think 1 oe 2 more.
at least a huindred eggs laid by the two females a few days apart, both in yatd about 3 days.
mostly on narrowleaf.
a couple of larvae sighted - a 2nd and a 3rd instar each in process of molting. oh and a couple of 1st instars which I assume were eaten pretty quickly by my many predators.
wondering if predation on narrowleaf larvae is higher because the cardenolide content is low? monarchs are not numerous in Utah so do birds and spiders etc. learn to avoid them?
male last night patrolled ferociously.
