Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/29/2024

Number: 1

You can look in vain through this photo for the Monarch; I did. Just after taking the photo of the larva (see report under larva sighted), I sat down to write the report, when a female with faded wings flew into the Milkweed patch. She was ovipositing on lower leaves. I could not catch up to her to get a photograph. She meandered through the various wildflower patches here, visiting one or two plants and then meandering on her way in a generally easterly direction. According to the the closest Environment Canada reporting station at the Burlington Lift Bridge, hourly conditions at 09:00 were: 23°C, wind NNW at 2 km/h, humidity 77%, dewpoint 19°C and barometric pressure 101.5 kPa
