Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Date: 07/30/2024

Number: 2

Eggs were laid by a wild monarch female on my swamp milkweed plants in early July; I spotted them as 3rd instars on July 14; brought them in the house as the caterpillars reached maturity so that they could pupate indoors and the chrysalises would be protected from the elements. Two female butterflies emerged on the morning of 7/30/2024 and were placed outdoors to fly free when ready.
