Very hot and muggy, sunny and still. Resident male spotted a Monarch in the garden and latched on to it attempting to mate. He flew away after a few seconds without attaching. I couldn't see if the other Monarch was also a male or if it was a female that wasn't ready to mate. I did release 2 females yesterday but I'm not sure how long after eclosing the female is ready to mate.
