I have tons of milkweed in my yard. Plenty of signs of monarch caterpillars, frass, etc. -- just no caterpillars. Saw this today and might explain why. Perhaps an assassin bug? Seems to have drained the caterpillar's fluids. I typically rescue about a hundred caterpillars a year in my habitat and release them. I have only found two this year. So so sad.
