As of today, August 04, not one Monarch has visited our common milkweed patch. No eggs, no cats, no chrysalises and no butterflies. By this date in 2021, we had found and raised almost 100 cats into butterflies. In 2023 that number had gone down to 22. And so far this year none at all. So sad. In past years at this time, we've ordered at least 100 tags from KU Monarch Watch in anticipation of the migration next month. This year, unless something drastically changes and butterflies show up, we don't plan on ordering any tags.
