Yet Another

Yesterday (8/6/2024) I posted our first sighting of Monarch Caterpillars for this summer.  They showed up two days after the end of the 2024 Monarch Blitz -- maybe they missed the invitation, or maybe this newest caterpillar was born after the invitations were sent out.

In any case, this caterpillar is another young one.  But unlike the two caterpillars we found yesterday, this one is on a Common Milkweed growing in the garden off our deck in the back of our house.  I guess female Monarch Butterflies have been around the neighborhood more often of late than we’ve observed.

At the time (a bit before 11:00 AM) both the air temperature and the dew point were 66°F, so (not surprisingly) the humidity was 100%.  Also, the air pressure was 28.64 inches, with a light 6 mph breeze coming from the North under cloudy skies with light rain.
