Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 08/10/2024

Number: 8

In 25+ years of feeding hummingbirds, we have never seen so many. In the past 4 days the level of activity has been dizzying, no matter how rainy and windy the weather. They chase each other, of course, and we have one male we call The Beast who stakes out his seat on his feeder, chasing all the others away. In a very rare moment, we actually saw three hummingbirds feeding simultaneously from The Beast’s HummBlossom feeder (which has only 3 ports) for about 15 seconds before they all remembered to start fighting again. My daughter took the attached picture of one of our customers. We’ve been able to absolutely confirm 2 adult males, 1 adult female and 2 juveniles, but we are confident that the numbers are much higher. Eight is only a guess.
