Sightings report image

Date: 08/14/2024

Number: 2

One of two females observed simultaneously ovipositing today on both tall and tiny Common Milkweed plants. It appeared that one may have even chosen a seed pod. One was more faded than the other but both seem to have a shiny substance on the upper side of their wings as evidenced in the photo here. Both were observed sunning themselves, resting with their wings open and one was observed nectaring from the Dogwood in flower. The more vibrant one continued on its way but the faded one is still busy ovipositing. Duration of observation, approximately 30 minutes.
