Yet Another Caterpillar


While weeding this afternoon, my wife spotted this Monarch Caterpillar munching on one of the older Common Milkweeds in one of our backyard gardens.  What is a bit surprising about this is that of late the only Monarch Caterpillars we have observed outside have been younger/smaller and on much younger milkweeds (i.e., less than 2 feet tall).

At the time (~1:25 PM), the air temperature was 76°F, the dew point was 71°F, the humidity was 83%, the air pressure was 28.56 inches, with a 7 mph breeze blowing from the South under cloudy skies.
