There is a prize for spotting the second male Monarch in this photo. Look to the flowers furthest left in the photo and observe very carefully to see an upside down Monarch with his wings partially open nectaring on this Buddleja. The two males had a little tussle and they separated. One went onto another Buddleja; the other one disappeared. After doing an extensive search for larvae and a walk around the park, I returned to this spot to find a solitary male intensely nectaring here again. One can assume that it is one of the males from earlier. As I am writing this report, another Monarch came up; again another tussle, leaving just one. I suspect he may be fuelling up for his journey as he is now sitting with his wings open, basking in the sun. He is currently alternating between feeding and sunning. According to local radio, the weather is unseasonably cool. Perhaps we will see some Migration. Mostly sunny, brisk gusty winds. According to the Weather app on my phone the current conditions are: 18°C feeling like 15°C, wind from the north at 12 kn with gusts up to 20 kn, barometric pressure steady at 102 kPa.
