Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/20/2024

Number: 1

Was only able to locate one of the larvae that I observed yesterday. After writing yesterday‘s report, I watched a dog walker go by and witnessed his dog lick the tiny Milkweed plant where one of the larvae was located. It made me think that perhaps the honeydew created by the aphids is making the plants smell sweet enough to lick. Perhaps this is what is causing the demise of so many larvae at this location. I would also like to note in this report that no eggs were observed today. First day in weeks that I have not seen any eggs. I would also like to note that this will be my last report from this location until possibly Friday.
