Practice Report (Any Species)

Number: 1

I am shocked and thrilled to find a 4th Monarch larva in a week!!! Especially with the poor condition of the swamp milkweed it is on! My swamp milkweed had significantly less blooms and is much shorter and thinner this summer, too. It’s the worst the plants have ever looked. What a strange and delightful surprise to have most caterpillars I’ve had since planting the milkweed many year ago, especially given the disturbances to the plants and the very few Monarchs I’ve seen around them.
