Still seeing a young active rubythroat that's too fast to id male or female. Checked out butterfly weed early. Other staying way out in trees behind.
I see a lot of reports that there are practically no hummingbirds like in previous years. Remember some years there are more or less because of gulf spring storms, hurricanes that can be the issue.
For us....adding more nectaring plants draws more rubythroats for my spot/area in migration times. Even gained summer nesters that stay in vicinity.
This goes on thru October here as well as in eastern states.
