Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/23/2024

Number: 5

Reported by Don Davis: Sherwood McLernon of Grafton Ontario reported that on Friday, September 23rd, he spotted a small roost of 5 monarchs on his Jack Pine trees on the north shore of Lake Ontario. We experienced a series of cool nights, with temperatures dropping to the mid 50's F and lower. This sent monarchs scurrying southward and such roosting behaviour is very familiar and seen during the fall migration.
