Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/28/2024

Number: 5

There's always, it seems every fall a female rubythroat goes around looking in windows. They are very curious. That happened around 11 a.m. today.

The males are sticking to their 'dubs 'feeder and staying cool up in trees. Back in 90's again. Once a male adventures too close to the dubed feeder then gets chased away fast. One is a first year getting full throat feathers coming in.

Three family members completely stopped hanging hummingbird feeders. One says too much going on to do so. Other got tred of the mold problem. I agree the weather is hard on hummingbird feeders in Texas. Feeders mold so fast since el Nino has persisted. Another family member puts a feeder out under trees to keep it shaded, but can't see them very well, way out. And it takes time out of ones life to keep up with rubythroat migration in Texas twice a year. Wears me out but I still do it so rubythroats won't go extinct.
