Monarch Egg Sighted

Date: 09/01/2024

Number: 26

First eggs seen after daily inspection since August 1, 2024. Saw one female, first sighting all summer. August 2, 2024, saw five with one being a definite male. Visual aprox. noon time. Been keeping count for awhile and have never seen them pass through here so late. Usually have 125-250 emerging chrysalis and many more in different stages by end of August and just now seeing eggs. Our farm is right in the middle of a migratory route for many insects and birds (including swans). We have a minimum of 12 32ounce hummingbird feeders emptied every 2 1/2 days because of so many hummingbirds every summer and that migration has not started yet. No Monarch roosts to report at this time.
