Second counting effort later this PM ... about 3:30 with temperature at about 85 degrees F and south / southwest breeze at about 10 with gusts to 15 mph. Visibly more activity from a distance. Saw easily 5 to 7 in the air around the garden at once. Decided on a second count for the day and the median value of three (3) complete walk-a-rounds was a reliable 17. Garden is 40 ft square with zinnia on 3 of the 4 sides. Also 40 ft of marigolds and lots of bumble bees ....
