It should be noted here that the fifth instar I spotted earlier in the week has disappeared. I assume he has gone walkabout to find somewhere to J.
While searching for him, I discovered this fourth instar. He again, as you can see in the photo is located on a smaller Common Milkweed plant that has been infested by yellow aphids. He is still managing to eat the leaves in spite of the aphid infestation and the accompanying ants. I have had my eye on him for two days now. There is one adjacent, smaller, Common Milkweed plant that is in better condition that I am hoping he is able to relocate to when he finishes up on this plant. All the rest of my Common Milkweed in this 100+ patch, as noted previously, has turned black from the aphid infestation and the majority of the leaves have dropped.
