Where are its antennae?!?! What happened to it?

I found it in this condition yesterday afternoon… about 1-2 feet away from a pond (next to my property in St John’s Fl).

At first, I thought it was sitting on the top of the grass… but then realized it was wedged between a few blades.

I’ve tried to give it some sugary Gatorade on the super ripe strawberry. I think I see flickers of movement, energy, and a tenuous hold on life.

Insects have an amazing ability to prolong life in extreme conditions.
