3:18pm, 85 hot muggy degrees with winds 13MPH S. 7 Monarchs in the garden feeding on meadow blazing star, cosmos, zinnia and new England aster. I'm convinced they'll try any kind of flower if they can get their proboscis in it, even some tiny annual purple flowers. I saw 4 Monarchs while I was out driving and 5 were at the local garden center feeding on a huge display of Butterfly bush. I don't know if all these Monarchs are hanging around or if they keep coming from the north, maybe Ontario. There will be a few more days in the 80s with a storm expected tomorrow and then the temps are expected to drop into low 70s early next week.
