Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/19/2024

Number: 1

I haven't seen a single monarch butterfly for days, but today saw a smaller larva on one of the more aged therefore beat up common milkweeds in my patch. I'm wondering if global warming is extending their cycle? I've got nice amounts of stiff goldenrod finally flowering; yet even they so far are not calling the monarchs. Hell, even the bee population except for some carpenter bees seem scarce around here this season. I did share my milkweed with 4-5 neighbors and am happy to report milkweed leaves on two of those transplants show evidence of a nom-nom larval meal.
