Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/19/2024

Number: 100

I have been monitoring the monarchs on my 9.5 acre property since September 3rd.
At 4:15 I have made a path through the red clover field, there has been between 60-75 daily.
I begin monitoring roosting activities at 6:15 and continue until 7:30 p.m.
Numbers have increased to approximately a total of 100.
Last night there were 5 distinct roosts.
They came in very early from the red clover due to the change in weather of high winds and rains arriving.
Most of the trees are maples, but monarchs also can be found in the pine grove.
I take heart in the knowledge they have roosted in one tree in particular for 6 years now, although "science" says thats not true.
