I feel experienced in my 54 years of being an insect super fan. I know when I’m seeing a monarch butterfly and when I’m seeing some other species that may just look similar, but 2 times in this later summer I have viewed what looks to be a monarch butterfly that is tiny!!!
They where closer to the size of a red admiral. If I see it again I’ll be sure to snap a pic, but it’s such a surprise to me to see a tiny monarch at all, but especially in what I think is out last generation of the season. I would expect them to be larger and built for travel. ?
