Sightings report image

Date: 09/20/2024

Arrived at the tip of Point Pelee National Park at 18:30 to cloudy conditions. Scattered showers expected in the area. With the weather threat, I thought it might have brought some Monarchs down to roost. At 17:56, according to the weather app on my phone, wind was 113° at 11 km/h with gusts up to 16 km/h. Thoroughly scanned the west path, the interior path and had a look out on the windy east side with my binoculars. Consulted with the park staff employee conducting the evening Monarch hike: no Monarchs sighted. Where have they all gone?
Conditions at the Environment Canada Point Pelee weather station at 19:00: temperature 22°C, humidity 29°C, humidity 84%, dewpoint 19°C, barometric pressure 101.1 kPa.
Attached photograph is looking west just before sunset, near the tip.
