Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/18/2024

Number: 10

I had been wondering if a ruby throated hummingbird would use the popsicle stick I had fastened to this hook. What do you know! This immature male rthb has been perching on this hook and nearby rope for several days now. Hard to say but we seem to have 5 or 6 immature male, a few female, and 1 or 2 juvenile ruby-throats. Nectaring at black-and-blue salvias, cigar flowers, purple agastache, lantana, and verbena was amazing to watch. I was sitting on my front step and the hummers would chase each other within inches of me. Quiting time was at 7:32 p.m. CDT.
