Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/23/2024

Number: 4

The ruby throated hummingbirds will be gone any day now. We still have 4: 3 immature male and 1 adult female ruby-throats still here nectaring at feeders, black-and-blue salvias, cigar flowers, purple agastache, lantana, and a taurenia. The hummers were really preserving energy by perching on inside branches of bushes and trees, staying out of the wind. 2 of the immature males have really been challenging each other. Sometimes perching inches apart in a stare down. It's going to be hard to say goodbye. Last hummer left to roost this evening at 7:20 p.m. CDT.
