Walking the arboretum grounds for about an hour, 2:30-3:30 PM, I counted 30 monarchs in directional flight south, some stopping to nectar on sunflowers or asters or zinnias, others already flying around the hedge looking for spots to roost. 72 degrees, cloudy, calm weather.
