One fresh monarch was seen at 1pm, sex unknown, nectaring on marigolds. At 5:45pm, a larger male monarch repeated returned to the tithonia (Mexican sunflower) to nectar. The area is a neighborhood devoid of nectar plants (lawns and shrubs) so the 2 flowering plants are the only harbor for them.
Last year, I saw 2-3 simultaneously nectaring in same place at same time of year. Now they are hours apart.
