This was the first season super generation migrating Monarchs were not seen daily, fueling up, even spending the night in the neighbor's Jack Pine. Nor did Straits area friends report increasing numbers or Journey North report Tawas area roost, our cue to plan a day trip to Tawas State Park or the Thumb for a sunset Monarch beach walk.
2024 migrating Monarch numbers were clearly down - another sharp decline from/through circa 2002 heyday. This does not bode well for overwintering numbers.
