Enjoyed seeing a group of 4 to 8 adult monarchs in excellent condition nectaring most of the afternoon on our variegated lilacs. Sunny and near 80 degrees, unseasonably warm most of this week and a dry month as well. This lilac tree had lost all of its leaves after blooming this spring so I was surprised not only to see it blooming again this summer but also to see monarchs foraging and fueling up on it this late in September.
