Arrived to the tip of Point Pelee National Park at approximately 18:30. Encountered two out-of-town visitors. They indicated to me that they saw three Monarchs flitting around at about 18:00. Since there was an east wind and the conditions of the surf and the wind were not favourable on the east side, I ventured onto the sand along the west side of the tip. Did an extensive search of this area and the trees along the west tip path, including interior trees, where Monarchs have been known to roost in the past; to no avail.
Conditions at 18:00 according to the weather app on my phone: partly sunny, temperature 21°C with a windchill of 20°C, wind ENE at 19 km/h with gusts up to 28 km/h, humidity 82%, dewpoint 18°C, barometric pressure 101 kPa.
