About 6 pm. there were 4 monarchs nectaring on these fall asters. It was 90 degrees and a south wind 20 mph. They stayed quite a while on the flowers. As I walked around the arboretum over the next hour, I saw about 4 more in flight, nectaring, and 1 roosting in the hedgerow. I was surprised to see this many on a day with 24+ mph south wind in the afternoon, since there had been none or only 1 or 2 for the last week or so.
